ICC World Test Championship Final – 2023

Australia won the 2023 ICC World Test Championship Final by 209 runs, defeating India at The Oval in London. Australia’s Travis Head was named Player of the Match after scoring 152 runs in the first innings and 42 runs in the second.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 469 runs. Head was the star of the innings, scoring 152 runs off 239 balls. He was well supported by Marnus Labuschagne (74) and Steve Smith (55).

India responded with 296 runs in their first innings. Cheteshwar Pujara top-scored with 125 runs, while Virat Kohli scored 49.

Australia declared their second innings at 270 for 8, setting India a target of 480 runs to win. India were bowled out for 234 in their second innings, with Pat Cummins taking 4 for 56.

The win was Australia’s first ICC World Test Championship title. They are now the only team to have won all three major ICC trophies, having also won the Cricket World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy.

The final was a closely fought contest, but Australia were able to edge it thanks to their strong batting and bowling performances. Head’s innings was the highlight of the match, and he was well supported by his teammates. Cummins’ bowling was also impressive, and he was the key to Australia’s victory.
